SPC project may replicate in Delhi

  • CNM Delhi Reporter

A discussion has been held  to replicate Students Police Cadets (SPC) And Our Responsibility to Children (ORC) in Delhi. P.Vijayan IPS,who has played a leadership role in SPC along with Kerala Education Society, Delhi President Babu Panicker and Secretary General PK Ravindranathan had a meeting and discussion with  Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Education, NCT of Delhi,  Manish Sisodia.

Student Police Cadets (SPC) Program and Our Responsibility to Children (ORC) program are two successful partnership initiatives of Kerala aimed at effectively investing in the care, protection and development of children.

These initiatives have been constructively engaging with children as well as teachers, parents and other stakeholders to equip the young generation to utilise the expanding universe of opportunities available to them and prevent them from getting sucked into anti-social activities. Both the programs are based on the philosophy that if properly harnessed, India’s youth advantage could well become India’s demographic dividend and not a demographic burden. The SPC Program has been rolled out nationally and ORC program is being replicated by several states outside Kerala.

Over the last 15 years, Kerala has gained vast experience in implementing SPC and ORC programs. Together with policy decisions, essential support and guidance from the Government, this experience can be tapped to implement the programs to reach students in all corners of Delhi and transform them as a capable and responsible citizenry.

P Vijayan IPS is the officer who has played a leadership role in conceptualizing and implementing both the programs in Kerala. Vijayan along with Kerala Education Society, Delhi President Babu Panicker and Secretary General PK Ravindranathan had a meeting and discussion with The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Education, NCT of Delhi  Manish Sisodia replicating these initiatives in Delhi Schools too.  Sisodia was impressed with the initiatives of Student Police Cadets (SPC) Program and Our Responsibility to Children (ORC).
