Sreedhanya Suresh has been appointed as the Assistant Collector of Calicut. She is 2019 batch IAS officer. The Collector arrived at the collectorate to take charge yesterday evening
As a part of Covid’s defence, she spent two weeks in quarantine at Trivandrum.
It is a great responsibility, to take this position during the Covid pandemic, said Sreedhanya. This will enable me to learn and understand more about governance. Kozhikode is my second home. I was educated here and there are a lot of factors that made me think in this city. It is a huge step of responsibility. I will do it sincerely.
In 2016, while working with the Tribal Department, she had an experience that led her to the civil service. The desires were sparked by the receptions and responses received by the then Sub-Collector of Wayanad, the present Calicut District Collector Sambasiva Rao. She said that It is a great pleasure to work under him now.
District Collector Sambasivarao said Sridhanya’s IAS achievement is a momentous moment in his eight-year career. The district collector also said that his happiness has no bounds at the success of Sridhanya who struggled from the limiting life situations.
Sreedhanya Suresh is the first to pass the Civil Service Examination from the Adivasi community in Kerala. After completing her primary education at Narimala High School, Tariyodu, she graduated from Devagiri College, Kozhikode with a degree in Zoology and a Master’s Degree from Calicut University. Sridhanya received civil service on her second attempt.
