BJP state president K Surendran said that the state government was ashamed to go to the Supreme Court for permission to withdraw the assembly violence case in March 2015.
The apex court’s refusal to withdraw the case is a setback to Pinarayi Vijayan’s stand. Kerala was embarrassed when the court said that some of the present ministers would face prosecution.
The question of whether the Supreme Court will provide protection in the name of the sovereignty of the House even if any member of the Legislature comes with a gun is important. Surendran said that the then MLAs should be prepared to face prosecution in criminal cases.
