Women in different walks of life took part in the Women’s Wall,organized by various left organisations and activists,and sponsored by the state government.Writers,thinkers,celebrities and social activists,teachers joined in the program.
The wall covered 76 kilometres across Kozhikode district national highways from Azhiyoor Poozhithala to Vaidyarangadi in Malappuram.
Three lakh women are reportedly took part in the agitation to protect gender equality and women’s constitutional rights.
Kudumbashree , Asha workers,Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme workers participated in the program.
The program, pledged for protecting the renaissance value in Kerala marked the strength of women power.
Ministers T.P.Ramakrishnan, A.K.Saseendran expressed their solidarity to the march in front of Calicut Press Club in Kozhikode , where prominent women leaders assembled.
Rima Kallingal.Dr.Khadeeja Mumtas,P.Valsala,K.Ajitha addressed the audience and underscored the need of protecting progressive values in Kerala.
“It is a warning signal of women against any kind of social discrimination.Kerala will never go back to its dark old ages.”-said K.Ajitha.
Rima Kallingal opined that what Kerala society enjoy today is the reformative efforts taken by our renaissance leaders.Similarly,we are responsible for creating a progressive society for our next generation,too.
Woman activist and script writer Deedi Damodaran said that any discussion on the politics of Women’s Wall is unwanted.It is women’s politics-she added.
Former MP P.Sathee Devi has opined that it is a historic moment.”Women-friendly society in all its real sense will be materialised.”-she added.
