Traffic jam at Meenchantha junction in Kozhikode

Drivers, notorious for ignoring traffic rules are enough in this route. However, the major issue is the poor condition of roads. Meenchantha in Kozhikode  was recently affected by huge traffic jam, even in the presence of  the city traffic police and wardens.

According to the City Traffic Control Room, the, main reason for the traffic jam is the closure of Rajaji Road.

Rajaji Road is the main entrance and exist of  thousands of vehicles come in the city.

Now,these vehicles are passing by Meenchantha.

Meanwhile,a private bus crashed on a wall at Areekade near Saradhsramam,on Monday evening.

This accident also added fuel to the situation.

Passenger vehicles as well as goods transports trapped in the long queue for several hours.

The police were seen trying to control the congestion by announcing ”

meeenchantha

‘Vehicles should maintain queue’, through their mikes, for making overtaking bike riders and others aware of the situation.

City buses from Kozhikode Kallai ,Vattakkinar route were waiting at Meenchantha to clear the blockade at junction and proceed for Feroke,Ramanattukara route.

At the same time, many private vehicles ignored the queue system really made a bottle neck situation, here.

Meenchantha junction has been a traffic jam area for long time.

However, recently, due to the increase in the number of private vehicles here, regular travelers are suffering lot in this route.

Expansion of Meenchantha bypass and adjacent roads have been in serious discussion among local community.

Rajaji Road in the city closure was not only the reason, say people in Meenchantha.

Most of the days ,especially during peak hours in the morning and evening the whole area is crowded with vehicles.

Saturdays become  peak days with huge queue stars from Pnniyankara to Areekkadu. This is really disturbing smooth flow of vehicles service in Beypore route also because when vehicles are blocked at Vattakkinar junction, the mobility is impossible for hours.
