Uralungal Labor Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) awarded 28 students for excelling in the Plus 2 examinations. The awards were given to the children of workers and employees of ULCCS. The awards were presented by Ramesan Paleri, Chairman of ULCCS, at a ceremony held at the Iringal Sargalaya Arts and Crafts Village on Thursday, October 23.
ULCCS Chairman Ramesan Paleri said that discussions are underway to make higher education affordable. He added that the Co-operative would create conditions for employment for the children of the workers.
Prizes for students were awarded in three ranks based on grades. Prizes include a medal, certificate and cash award. The cash award from ULCCS was Rs 10,000 for the first rank, Rs 8,000 for the second rank and Rs 6,000 for the third rank. Meenakshi R., who scored 1199 marks out of 1200 won the memento given by the Cultural Center of the Society members.
20 students who scored A+ in all subjects came first. Six qualified for the second rank and two for the third rank. The total prize money is 2 lakh 60 thousand.
