Vishu celebrations are just round the corner. When people are largely depending on vegetables,produced in neighboring states, its health concern is very high since there are many reports of using dangerous pesticides.
Kudumbasree workers are set ready to sell organic vegetables during this festive season, reducing the poisonous pesticide concern of imported vegetables.Kudumbasree is selling vegetables cultivated by housewives, group farming members etc.
‘Poison free vegetables;healthy people’ was the message by the Kudumbasree to promote organic vegetables at 39 centers in the district.
As part of the initiative, a stall has been arranged at Nadakkavu Vandippetta Cafesree compound.
Kudumbasree had a long term plan to promote organic farming in the district.The district panchayath also joined hands with the Kudumbasree initiative. Hectares of land in the district have been used for this purpose.
Yellow cucumber, cabbage, cauliflower, big onion, green chilly, tomato, ladies finger, beans, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, brinjal, snake gourd etc.are ready to sale.
Organic sambar red mix is a major attraction in the mela. Apart from this various pickles,grains and homely made food grains kits are also on sale.
K. Buvandas,lead bank manager inaugurated the first sale. Manusham Residents Association’s P.K.Kanakam received first kit.
Kudumbasree District Mission co-ordinator T.P.Muhammad Basheer presided over the function.
