The 35th National Games volley ball mens’ finals between Kerala and Tamil Nadu…

Tamil Nadu men bagged volley ball gold in the 35th National Games finals held at Kozhikode indoor stadium (3-1).

The hosting team had to face an unimaginable second in a tight fight.Kozhikode indoor stadium witnessed such a huge volley fans to watch Kerala-Tamil Nadu finals.

A packed gallery and hundreds outside the venue watching on big screens could not believe the defeat Kerala had to face.

Kerala had achieved that much confidence when they defeated Services players last day.Why did Kerala lose its second set was a big question  discussed among the volley fans.

In the first set Kerala scored 26 against its rival’s 24.However,Kerala men could not  show their full capacity in the next set.The result was a pathetic lose in the second set. Tamil Nadu scored 25 against Kerala’s 20.

Third set also witnessed a neck and neck fight.Kerala fought well in this round earning 23 points against Tamil Nadu’s 25.

The fourth set brought unlucky to Kerala side when Tamil Nadu marched far ahead with a good margin.Kerala had to surrender for 12 against 25 of Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile Tamil Nadu men showed a do or die match for the gold .Some times players turned l against referee and he showed yellow card against Tamil Nadu’side.

Kerala’s Jerome Vineeth’s smash shook the gallery with excitement.Tom Joseph,Ragesh K.G, and Manu Joseph played well with style and stamina.Kerala’s captain Vibin M George and Kapil Dev felt confident until the last moments of the game .

In Tamil Nadu side,captain Ukkarapandian and Shelva Prabhu Prbagaran really showed their fighting spirit in volley ball.

Dakshina Moorthy is the coach of Tamil Nadu.
