“We need to acquire skills to find opportunities even in crisis” – Gopinath Muthukadu
Magician and motivator, Gopinath Muthukadu shared his views that students should acquire the skills to find their opportunities for attaining excellence even in the crisis.
He was speaking as a special guest at the inaugural function of the students’ skills development program called Edu Mission conducted by Kozhikode District Administration in association with the Department of Education.
He said that compared to the past flu epidemics, today’s children are not facing any barriers when it comes to learning. He tried to motivate the students to face the challenges of the new age through the stories of the past.
District Panchayat President Babu Parassery inaugurated the meeting. Kozhikode DiET Principal VV Premarajan presided over the function. ASAP District Project Manager Mercy Priya presented the project. District Collector Samba Siva Rao and Assistant Collector Sreedhanya Suresh were the special guests.
The aim of the project is to enable children to adapt to the challenges of the world by recognizing the changes that are taking place in the world and to overcome these challenges in the field of education and employment. The Education Skills Development Program is a pilot project for children to acquire the appropriate skills.
120 students from 12 schools in the district have been selected for the pilot project. One teacher from each school has been appointed as the mentor. The working unit is a cluster consisting of four schools from one district. Each cluster of 40 students and 4 teacher mentors will be led by the respective District Education Officers. The expert committee, headed by the District Collector, will utilize the support and expertise of dietitians, experts from NIT and the University of Calicut, the ASAP District Project Manager, ISRO and management institutions. The modules are prepared and trained by experts in the respective field. This includes methods of assessing children before, during and after training.
