Woman,relationships and new age verdicts

It is apt to re-read Rajneesh’s book, The Book of Women,especially at a  time when feminism,women’s rights,gender equality,marriages and relationships are defined through recent Supreme Court verdicts.

 Woman;body and mind

The Book Of Woman is a celebration of feminity through the words of Osho. The book expresses the essentiality of feminity in the world and how its repression can destroy humanity. The text has many chapters which discusses sexuality, marriage, motherhood, Family, birth control, the Body , mind, meditation etc.
Osho explains the importance of the essence of the uniqueness of male and  female in this world. He says that a man and a woman cannot be equal as they have uniqueness of their own, but they are neither superior nor inferior to each other.
What man requires to do is to reach his consciousness and free himself from the gender mindset. That , he says, is the path for enlightenment.
Osho makes bold statements which are unacceptable in the prevailing social mindset. He says that human beings cannot be monopolized into a single partner. For a relationship to last till eternity, freedom is the most required quality.
Marriage
 Marriage,according to Osho is the most disgusting tradition created by the society as it destroys the freedom and hence destroys the relationship.
Birth control is the gift of mankind which has made the exploration of sexuality easy. Now, human beings can enjoy sex without the fear of child birth and explore new realms of pleasure. The whole motive of life is to live. One who lives is unafraid of death. Those who are fearful of old age and death are those who haven’t actually lived. A person should love their body as it is with all its flaws and uniqueness, then only others can fall in love with them. He explains the procedure of tantra that enhances one’s perspective of the body and enhances the body itself. He explains the mind. He says that one should have a dominant heart and a submissive brain. One should listen to what the heart says. The heart is feminine and the brain is masculine.
Feminity
Feminity is to be acquired by the male, feminity is there within the female, she just has to enhance it not change it. The woman liberation movement is nonsense as it asks the women to copy man and become like them, which is actually degradation of women.
Women work with their heart, are emotional and hence they can prevent wars and calamities on the planet.  The heart and mind is to be harmonized, the only way for this harmony  is the consciousness which can be attained by meditation only.
Meditation
Meditation, like the society explains, is not different for men and women. Osho expresses it to be gender-less. Once following the consciousness a person realizes that he or she is just the watcher of the world. No one is here to make a change. The mystery of the universe has the beauty of it. To demystify it is a pollution.  Science demystifies it, but poetry enjoys it as it is. The beauty of life lies in the enjoyment of this mystery. Man has to come to the enlightenment that he himself is a mystery that is to remain unsolved.
The book celebrates pure humanity and nature. It is explicit portrayal of a revolutionary change that has to take place to make the world a calm place to live in. Osho’s words are straightforward and his ideas are transparent. The book claims to be nothing but something that is hard to accept, the book claims to be the Truth.
