Tirur, Thunchath Ezhuthachan Malayalam University Heritage Study Centre organizes a workshop on Thaliyola at Aksharam campus.
The three day program will begin on March 2 . The workshop aims to give awareness of the preservation of Thaliyola
among the students of heritage studies.
Preservation of Thaliyolas under the possession of Malayalam University is also the objective of the program.
Kerala University manuscript library conservation assistant P.L.Shaji will lead the workshop.
M.Sreenathan will inaugurate the workshop.Dr.G.Sajina is the co-ordinator .
Thaliyolas are the pre-treated leaf of an Asian Palmyra palm.The system (writing on plam leaves by using large pointed pen called narayam)was popular until the introduction of paper, the palm leaves remained as the primary medium for creating, circulating and preserving written articles in the region.
There are many treasure of ancient knowledge written on Thaliyola.Preservation of Thaliyola helps to disseminate a great deal of yesteryear knowledge to next generation.
