Yellow alert in Kozhikode
Yellow alert for the district today (July 4)
The Central Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the district today (July 4). Heavy rainfall is expected to be 64.5 mm to 115.5mm in 24 hours. Green alert on 5th and 6th of this month.
The State Disaster Management Authority (DMC) said that heavy rains are likely to result in natural disasters such as local floods, landslides and earthquakes. Officials have been advised to look into the situation especially in the hilly regions and take appropriate measures at the local level and village level. The district administration should look into such a situation and give due diligence to the police, forest department, fire force, local bodies, revenue officials and dam operators.
In the light of the current warning, the Orange Book 2020 states that camps should be prepared for groups marked as ‘Vulnerable Groups’ and to evacuate people where necessary. The Orange Book 2020 describes how camps should function in the context of the Covid 19 pestilence. The camps should be organized with the coordination of the Department of Revenue and Local Self Government.
