Temple pond cleaned

 

With water shortage becomes severe in urban and rural areas in Kozhikode district,every small step counts. Traditional ponds are best methods to harvest rain water and store it for long times to over come summer water crisis.

 

A group of people cleaned Korayangad temple pond as part of water conservation initiatives at Koyilandi. The temple pond is age old and as the result of severe draught this year,the water level is reached extreme down.The remaining water is mixed with mud and moss.

The temple committee took up this cleaning initiatives and many youngsters in the locality participated in the move. Puthiya Parambath Balan,O.K.Balakrishnan,T.M.Ravi,K.K.Vinod,P.P.Sudheer,K.K.Balan,

Ponds are traditional method for water storage.Recharging of ponds and water bodies help  good inflow of ground water and preparing the whole locality to harvest rain water , thus maintaining water level in the wells of nearby houses .
